Prince William Says It’d Be ‘Absolutely Fine’ If His Kids Came Out As Gay

Prince William said Wednesday he would “fully support” his three children if they came out as gay but voiced concerns as to how society would react.

During a visit to the Albert Kennedy Trust, that operates as akt, a nonprofit that helps young LBGTQ people living in hostile environments or experiencing homelessness because of their sexual identity, William said that it would be “absolutely fine by me” if Prince George, Princess Charlotte or Prince Louis later identified as LGBTQ.

“It worries me not because of them being gay,” Prince William said. “It worries me as to how everyone else will react and perceive it, and then the pressure is then on them.”

“I wish we lived in a world where it’s really normal and cool, but particularly for my family, and the position that we are in, that’s the bit I am nervous about,” he added. “How many barriers, you know, hateful words, persecution, all that and discrimination that might come, that’s the bit that really troubles me.”

The Albert Kennedy Trust is a non-profit serving bisexual, lesbian, gay or transgender youth dealing with homelessness.

It’s no surprise Prince William is a supporter of the LGBTQ community. In 2016, he became the first royal family member to ever appear on the cover of an LGBTQ magazine when he posed for Attitude magazine.
