Oshiomhole who declared that in as much as the ruling party is rated as the biggest party in Nigeria and by extension in Africa, it is not interested in dysfunctional bigness or size, said that what the party under his leadership was interested in, was a united one with committed and loyal members .

Present at the meeting were Senate President, Dr. Bukola,Saraki, Senate leader, Senator Ahmad Lawan, deputy leader, Senator Bala Ibn A’ Allah; Senate Chief Whip, Senator Olusola Adeyeye, deputy Chief Whip, Senator Francis Alimikhena and almost all other senators of the APC.

Also before the closed door session, to the surprise of everyone present, announcement made by Senator Sunny Ugborji ( Ebonyi South) as latest catch of APC , was not greeted by clapping or hugging from any of the APC senators or NWC members.

Interestingly, anger in Senator Suleiman Hunkuyi, Kaduna North came up as he simply introduced himself by his name without any prefix or name of party.

Also during introductions at the meeting , one of the aggrieved members of the party , Senator Kabiru Marafa ( APC Zamfara Central) described himself as chairman of disenfranchised members of APC in Zamfara State and one of the members nation wide.

The Chief of Staff to Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, Dr. Hakeem Baba- Ahmed who accompanied his boss to the room, Room 301, angrily stormed out of the hall when the APC National Chairman was addressing the audience.

Speaking further, Oshiomhole said, “This idea of wanting to be seen as the biggest party in Nigeria and Africa without required functionality as a united group with clear direction of destination is not our focus but a party populated by members who are committed and loyal to its desires of taking Nigeria to greater heights .

“Yes, it is good to be big or large in size as a party but becoming too big and become dysfunctional is not good for us.”

The APC National Chairman who distanced the party’s national executive from utterances made by some party chieftains that any aggrieved party man can go to anywhere, said, “We do not subscribe with the position of people within the party saying anybody can go anywhere.”

Oshiomhole explained to the APC senators that the purpose of the NWC visit to them, was for heart to heart conversation towards finding solutions to whatever problems they have with the party at whatever levels.

According to him, regardless of the magnitude of crises that may be afflicting the party at whatever level, the three ingredients of commitment for justice , fairness and courage to stand by the truth , the new leadership is operating with, the party will come out stronger from such crises .

In his response, the Senate President, Bukola Saraki who noted that the submissions made by the National Chairman were very promising as regards moving the party forward, said, “Party politics and democracy itself is inherent with conflicts based disagreement requiring the form of rapprochement you have brought “, he said . The NWC and the Senate caucus thereafter went into closed door session.
